Your Journey Starts Here
Experience a transformative journey with us at Lakeborn. Follow our detailed guide to fully prepare for your ayahuasca retreat.

Lakeborn ceremonies are not standalone events.
They are part of a carefully held process that begins before you arrive and continues after you leave.
Preparation, pacing, and integration are treated as essential. This work asks for responsibility, honesty, and presence from everyone involved.
Before the Retreat
Preparation & screening
Every participant goes through a preparation process before attending.

1.
A screening conversation to assess readiness and fit
2.
Clear medical and psychological guidelines
3.
Dietary and lifestyle preparation instructions
4.
Time and space for questions and clarification
This step exists to protect both the individual and the group.
Not everyone who feels called to ceremony is ready, and we take that seriously.
the Ceremony
Ceremonies are held at night in a quiet, contained setting.
They are guided by experienced facilitators and informed by traditional Shipibo practices, including the use of icaros to support structure and stability. The role of the facilitator is not to direct your experience, but to hold a steady, responsive container.
Ceremonies typically last several hours. Participants are supported throughout the night, with attention to safety, pacing, and emotional regulation.
Silence, respect, and personal responsibility are central to the space.

DURING the Retreat
Outside of ceremony, the retreat is designed to support rest and integration.

Nourishing, simple meals
Gentle grounding practices
Quiet reflection time
Light movement or breath work
Group integration circles
There is no pressure to share more than feels appropriate. Listening is valued as much as speaking.
Embrace the Experience
Participants are guided through the ceremonies with care. Our facilitators ensure a safe and nurturing environment for exploration.

After the Retreat: integration
Integration is where the work becomes real.
Participants receive guidance on how to:
-
Ground insights into daily life
-
Avoid over-interpretation or spiritual bypassing
-
Care for the nervous system after ceremony
-
Reach out for support if challenges arise
Ongoing integration support is available, and participants are encouraged to move slowly rather than rush meaning-making.

Important Considerations
This work is not for everyone.
Ceremony may not be appropriate if you are:
-
Currently experiencing acute psychological instability
-
Using certain medications
-
Seeking quick fixes or dramatic experiences
-
Unwilling to prepare or integrate responsibly
We encourage honesty throughout the process.
Saying no when needed is part of doing this work with integrity.
