Terms of Participation
By inquiring about or participating in a Lakeborn retreat, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms.
privacy & confidentiality
Lakeborn is committed to protecting the privacy and dignity of every participant.
We do not disclose the identity, participation, or personal experiences of any guest. This includes names, images, conversations, or details related to retreat attendance or ceremony experiences.
Participants are expected to extend the same respect to one another. What is shared within the retreat space stays within the retreat space.
Photography, recording, or public sharing of personal details from ceremonies is not permitted unless explicitly discussed and consented to by all involved.
nature of the work
The work offered through Lakeborn is approached as intentional, ceremonial, and reverent in nature.
It is not recreational, entertainment-based, or casual. Participation is limited to small groups and is guided by preparation, screening, and ongoing support before and after the retreat.
This work is held privately and intentionally, with care given to the setting, structure, and people involved.
Participation Is Not a Transaction
Lakeborn does not operate on a drop-in or open-access basis.
Participation follows a conversation and screening process to ensure alignment, readiness, and safety. Retreat fees support lodging, meals, preparation, facilitation, and operational costs related to holding the container.
Participation is not guaranteed by payment alone.
Respect for Law & Responsibility
Lakeborn does not encourage unlawful behavior or misuse of sacred plants.
We operate with care, discretion, and respect for the broader legal and cultural landscape. Guests are expected to engage responsibly, honestly, and with integrity before, during, and after their participation.
Community Responsibility
By choosing to participate, guests agree to:
-
Engage honestly in preparation and screening
-
Respect the group container
-
Approach the experience with humility and care
These agreements exist to protect both the individual and the collective experience.
Reservation & Deposit Policy
A deposit is required to reserve your spot once participation has been confirmed through conversation.
All deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. This includes cancellations, no-shows, or changes in personal circumstances.
Exception:
If, during the intake or screening process, a guest is deemed clinically or medically unfit to participate, the deposit will be fully refunded.
Screening & Eligibility
Participation is not automatic. All guests are asked to complete an intake process and communicate openly about physical health, mental health, and medication use.
This screening exists to protect both the individual and the group. In some cases, we may recommend postponing or declining participation if it does not feel appropriate at this time.
Cancellations & Changes
Due to limited capacity and the nature of retreat preparation, we are unable to offer refunds or transfers once a spot has been reserved.
Please be sure of your availability and readiness before committing.
Group Container
Lakeborn ceremonies are held in small groups. Each participant’s preparation, presence, and integrity directly affect the shared experience.
By reserving a spot, you agree to approach the retreat with respect for the group, the facilitators, and the process itself.
